Everyone has the Potential of Being Evil
This novel Night, has a lot to do with our world today. Everybody has the potential of being evil, even if they do not know it. People that are originally good can turn sinful. In the book Night, Elie was thinking evil thoughts about his dad but he still loves his dad. In the world there are many cruel crimes that happen with people that least expect it. In my life, one of my friends did something evil to me that I will never forget. There has been evil in good individuals, since people have first populated the planet. In the novel Night, many of the people’s ways were evil such as a son beating his own father up.
There are many individuals that have changed from good to evil because of their situations. In the book, Wiesel describes this scene like “People would throw bread into the carriage and the prisoners would fight over it. A father had some bread in his hand while yelling out for his son so he could share the bread. The son comes over and starts beating up his own father for the bread.” (Weisel) Why would a son do that to his own father? If they were not in a concentration camp or starving the son would probably act differently. You never know how you react until you are put into these situations which proves that people have the potential to be evil. Just like Elie’s misguided thoughts about his father, his father got beat up for working to slow and Elie blamed the beating on his father. Elie was devoted to his father and loved him, but being in his situation turned him for the worst. In this world now, there are many things that relate to this book like the harmful crimes that kids can do.
The people that we least expect to do anything illegal, can be involved in illicit things. “In England, this 12 year-old boy caused a 500 percent increase in crime rates in whichever city he lives in. He got caught with more than 600 counts of burglary and he is only a teenager. He moved cities and the crime rate in that city went up right after he moved. Eventually they charged him by being a crime committing machine.” (5 Most Diabolical… cracked.com) Someone that we least expect to get charged with that, did. Just like this 15-year-old who killed his two adopted brothers one night and ran away. “The 15-year-old boy was the oldest and an honor student at his school and so was trusted to take care of his siblings with minimal mishaps. Unfortunately, the boy brutally stabbed his siblings to death one evening and left the house.” (10 Horrible Crimes… listverse.com) His parents relied on him and trusted him to take care of his brothers. The parents never expected their son to do something that horrible. Everyone can do something evil without thinking about it or caring about it. There has been some cruel things done to me by people I thought I trusted.
Throughout my life, I have had many things done to me and my friends that have been evil. Everyone has had something done to them that has hurt them. Such as being talked about behind your back by your closest friends or has done something to hurt another person. People never realize that their closest friends or family can damage them to an extent. I certainly have been talked badly about behind my back by people I would of never thought would. Nobody likes being talked about and It could come out from a person that you are closest with. I learned that everybody has the potential of being evil.
Everyone has the possibility to be sinful either under certain circumstances or without. Just like the father and son scene in the book which if they were not in that situation, the scene probably would not happen. We come to realize when we are put in unpleasant situations we tend to act unlike ourselves. Although people talk badly about their friends they seem to have no regret doing so. There are many individuals that we least expect to have some evil in them that do. Just like the teenager in England that was arrested with 600 counts of burglary. People would have never expected a 12 year-old to be that corrupt. When put into different situations or not everybody can have the potential to be evil.

Social Media Websites Increase Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying has expanded as the number of social media sites have increased. In each social media site there is some type of cyberbullying going on, such as making fake profiles, threatening and spreading rumors. There is a strong relationship between being bullied online and suicide. Cyberbullying is extremely popular and easy on social media sites because someone can do multiple things online and no one would know that it is that person. Cyberbullying occurs the most on the social networking websites. Social media websites contribute in helping the growth of cyberbullying.
With cyberbullying there is aftermath. People can have depression, anxiety and turn to suicide. Most of the suicides from bullying are associated to social media websites like Ask.fm, Twitter and Facebook. “People who were both victims and bullies were at higher risk for young adult depression, panic disorder, agoraphobia among females, and the likelihood of suicide among males.” (http://www.cnn.com) Furthermore, those who were bullied showed a risk of antisocial personality disorder. Rebecca, a 12-year-old girl from Miami, killed herself because the bullying was too much for her to handle. According to Lizette, “In jumping, Rebecca became one of the youngest members of a growing list of children and teenagers apparently driven to suicide, at least in part, after being maligned, threatened and taunted online, mostly through a new collection of texting and photo-sharing cellphone applications.” (http://www.nytimes.com) In other words many teenagers have died being the victim of cyberbullying. She was bullied on many social websites such as Ask.fm and Facebook. “Those who said they were cyberbullied were also most likely to say they had considered suicide -- 28%, compared to 22% who were physically bullied and 26% who received bullying text messages.” (http://www.cnn.com) Being cyberbullied impacts a person's life and can lead to harmful consequences.
Cyberbullying is effortless for bullies because of how easy it is. The bullies can easily make a fake profile and no one will know that it is them. “Large Internet companies such as Google have ensured that anyone can say or do anything they want on the Internet by masquerading behind something they erroneously call "freedom of speech." (http://www.cleveland.com) Ethically it is not right that someone can bully a person and not feel any guilt afterwards. Elizabeth states, “Cyberbullying presents unique challenges in the sense that the perpetrator can attempt to be anonymous, and attacks can happen at any time of day or night.” (http://www.cnn.com) Cyberbullying is chosen because the bullies do not have to confront the victim face to face and they do not have to deal with the emotional repercussions. “Yes, cyberbullies have it easy, and they know it. They can become anonymous, say and do whatever they want to their targets, and get away with it, too.” (http://www.cleveland.com) Cyberbullying is becoming more common because of it’s simplicity.
The social media sites on the internet are dominated by teenagers. “95% of all teens surveyed use the Internet on a regular basis, and 80% of them use social networking sites.” (http://cyberbullying.edgewave.com/) Since networking sites are so popular, the more likely and easier it is to be bullied. Internet Safety 101 states, “One million children were harassed, threatened or subjected to other forms of cyberbullying on Facebook during the past year.” (http://www.internetsafety101.org) In short, Facebook is one of the leading social networking site used for bullying. “1 in 6 parents know their child has been bullied via a social networking site.” (http://www.internetsafety101.org) Logically the facts will continue to grow as long as the internet is around. But people say that social websites like Twitter and Facebook are just used for fun and no harm is done. As more social media websites are created the more the cyberbullying statistics will go up.
As all the social networking sites expand, more cyberbullying is going to take place. All the apps and social websites create bullying. But the internet is not making the bullies work hard to do their job, it is easy to make fake profiles and not not have anyone know. The victim faces repercussions that could turn to suicide and other antisocial disorders. Most of the teenagers have been bullied on one of the many social media websites out there. The growth of cyberbullying increases as more and more social networking sites expand.
